#ryokan #city/kansai/kyoto [Matsumoto Ryokan](https://matsumoto.kyoto-ekimae.com) is an inn just across the street from [Kyoto Station](https://www.kyotostation.com/). Additionally, the entrance is just steps from an entrance to [Kyoto Porta](https://www.porta.co.jp/)--an underground mall providing a walkway to [Kyoto Station](https://www.kyotostation.com/), making transit very easy even when it was raining. We had a comfortable stay here in a small Japanese style room with futons on tatami mats. Unfortunately, we forgot to take photos of this hotel. 😅 However, [there are photos on the website](https://matsumoto.kyoto-ekimae.com/english/rooms.html#room). Given the price and location, we agreed this was a good option for future trips. _Side story: I had troubles sleeping here, possibly related to the person in the room next to us. It sounded like an old lady would go through random bouts of screaming at someone. We first noticed when we returned to our room after dinner, but it happened randomly--multiple times throughout the night._
